In the Northern part of Corfu, 24km from the historical town of Kerkyra, our estate and farmhouse is situated on the lower slopes of Mount Pandokratoras facing the shortest sea crossing from the Albanian coast.
Our family maintain the estate with the 180 olive trees on stone built terraces producing biological olive oil, in addition to biological produce from the garden.
In the shade of the olive trees there is a stone and wood built villa, converted in traditional style from a former stable, reminiscent of a bygone era, which is available for rent.
Incorporated into this large indoor space is a kitchen, bathroom, sleeping area with twin beds, traditional open fireplace and mezzanine floor accessed by a wooden stairway with sleeping facilities for a further two people.
Adjacent to stable is a smaller stone building across a shady little yard, which provides additional accommodation for a larger number of guests – in total up to six persons, with a separate kitchenette and bathroom and the convenience of easy communication between the two buildings. This secluded, hidden, flower filled yard offers cool and shade during the summer months in the silence of our Corfiot olive grove.
Although there is no swimming pool, the views towards the Ionian Sea, the port of Kerkyra in the distance, the Albanian coast and the mountain ranges beyond astound every visitor. (We also find it impossible to be accustomed to the beauty of this scenery). The picturesque coves of Agni, Kouloura and Kalami with their tavernas and watersport facilities are only a short distance away.
The only other inhabitants on the estate apart from ourselves, are Tsoupi, our lovely little donkey – who has given her name to the villa – chickens, cats and a dog.
In Spring the air is full of the scent of flowers that abound in this green island. In Autumn, when the harvesting of the olives begins, guests are invited to observe or participate in the unique experience of the gathering in of the olives.
In addition to the many activities on the estate itself, and the close proximity to the sea for bathing, there are also many well designated pathways crisscrossing the mountainside that offer the walker great opportunities to explore the area. These pathways have remained undisturbed over the years and lead through beautiful quiet villages and countryside.
Should visitors wish to explore the rest of the island with its traditional mansions, gardens and countless other places of interest, we would be most willing to offer our knowledge of the island’ s history and culture together with the many festivals, traditions, foods and products.
Family pets are always welcome.
The villa is available for rent through private agreement with Th Hellenic National Tourist Organization either as a separate unit, or together with the second building as a combined unit.
The rental is calculated not by the day, but by the sum total of days occupied, according to the season.
